I can attest to the surges happening. After losing 2 computer power supplies over the course of 9 years, which isn't bad at all. I decided to invest in an APC surge protector. I had a surge protector but the APC with the battery backup is the BOMB! APC Software installs on your machine and keeps track every time your computer gets a surge hit or how long the computer was on battery power. When I am at work the power company is always doing something during the day. Now I know and I have peace of mind since I bought a new machine I want to protect the investment. I highly recommend you get an APC. This is the one I got APC 1500VA Green Battery BACK-UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), LCD Display, 10 Outlets and Master/Control Feature
Hey I love the videos man.. need help!!! Trying to build a shed with about 2 gigs hash moving from inside house to a shed outside going to use your power set up ... I’m just worried about heat I’m in Arizona and it can be 120 outside so even with great fans still hot any ideas how to keep my cards cold out there in a shed ... I thought about a window ac on the shed but then I wouldn’t really be able to use exhaust fans or the cold air will just exhaust? Do you think a portable ac could keep up with the heat output from a couple gigs worth of hashing gpu ...got everything figured out it’s just how to keep the cards cool that is stumping me HElP !!!!! Again love the videos keep em coming
Do you run an ac in there? I thought I saw a portable unit in there in a video. This is my plan for the this year. I have a bunch of hydroponic equipment sitting around. A mini split ac would be much more cost effective and stronger for your shed. It’s even consider running some 8in hurricane fans with a master controller that you use in the marijuana industry. Even putting foam insulation in. That vent fan in the roof would make me nervous in regards to leaks
About your shed, what state do you live in? Starting a small mining farm in a garage which is going to require me making two windows for ventilation but this shed could be another viable option. Any issues with rain getting inside the vents or thru the roof and the fans? Have you had this set up during the summer months?
Ok tell me please how did you sort out the vents on the top of the shed ? What happens if its raining or something ? Isnt the water coming in through the fans in the top ? If you can, tell me please what kind of fans did you put there in the ceiling. Cheers
@VoskCoin I'm looking into dropping some serious investments to starting my own farm within a shed build like you have. I'd love to see more details on the intricate details of your mining shed build. Your videos have been instrumental in getting me starting mining. Thanks for the amazing content.
most of my surges are probably caused by back EMF from my clothes washer. i don't worry about my electronics much but the HDD are the only thing that seem affected if i blow a fuse and the wallet.dat gets corrupted for any wallets i have running. most modern psu can rectify and clean up power signals pretty good
Im not an Electrician but yea no one talks about seting up the electricity, only about rigs. If i get ahold of some money and get me a few rigs i dont wanna burn my House dovn cos the wires would melt or some shit..
Great videos man, I just bought 6 1060s and everything I need for my first rig. I have a issue, nowhere to put it. I was thinking of garage but I'm in south Florida and even in December we hitting 85F + Humidity... Any ideas :)?
Not knowing much about power....if I have a 240 already in my house, will my rig that I have presently running on 120 be able to work with the 240? does the power supply automatically switch? My 240 outlet was originally for a clothes dryer where each leg of the outlet has 120....will that work? all i need to get is the right PDU?
Just wanted to say love you're videos watch all of them because they have taught me quite a bit of knowledge... Just curious to know how many amps you're trio rigs were pulling on 240V & also how many trio rigs you were able to run per PDU... Currently planning out a farm and highly considering the trio approach just altered a bit to run 3 1080 ti's per rig... really wanting to move away from using risers.... Thank you and keep up the great work!
GPU mining is not really worth it in the end. Most setups have a 250-300day ROI (return on investment) meaning it takes 8-10 months just to get back your original investment. Yet the the difficulty rate goes up, the mining pools may go up and your GPU depreciate in value over that period. It's seems to be a much better investment to buy now and HODL for 8 months and then sell.
Wrong about BUY and HOLD. Terrible idea. With mining you have assets to back up your investment. Even if things crash in a year, you have lots of coins AND hardware to sell and have much better chance at breaking even. If you just BUY and HOLD, a year from now you could have 50% of what you started with and nothing else to show for it. WAY less risky when you have hard assets to back you up.
Thanks for the talk on power management. It's one piece that doesnt seem to be discussed very often. I do have one question, someone like yourself that has a substantial investment in mining cryptos, what's your opinion on the future of mining, 12 months or even 24 months out? Great channel and thanks again!
Advice: invest in security. Youve got a lot of hardware that can be stolen. Tails might need to stand guard outside your farm by night. But even Tails might need some backup. I'd hate to see some meth-head steal your gear just as things are heating up.
Hey Vosk! Love your videos. As usual they are very helpful and they are saving me tons of time! Just curious... Do you mine Vertcoin? If so what pool do you recommend? I switched to SimpleMining; thanks to you! :)
I just started following your channel. Your video's are great!
I'd like to get more information on your mining farm, specifically relating to the power setup.
I have an unfinished basement in a newer home with a 400 amp main circuit with two 200 amp panels. I want to get as much information on your buildout as possible to assist me in my farm.
When do you plan to have more videos about your farm/shed available? Do you offer assistance with build outs?
Vosk, I"m a big fan, been watching a lot of your videos and love how straight up and transparent you are. wishing you the best of luck, you should take care of your health too doe. just wanted to ask: i have never built a miner before and am looking to build one. ive seen your 3, 4, 6, and 12 gpu builds and was wondering if i should just stick with the 3 gpu or should i get the one with the best ROI? im looking to commit $5,000 to learning about cryptomining (I don't pay for electricity but i have limited space so i'm looking at the 4-6 gpu builds). is there something you use to figure out which parts/cards to use/buy? some of the links provided in your builds are either on backorder or not on sale
Great video, and please make that video talking all about electric stuff, and please do it in detail because I know nothing about this and I currently have 3 ASIC miners coming in the mail (S9,L3+,L3+) while currently mining Ethereum with 3 GPUs.
I built a "Trio" but with 1 1080ti and 2 Zotec 1070tis. I added another MSI 1070ti to make it a "Quatro." I am still using the EVGA 750 Play. PSU. It can crank 2300+ sold/sec but will hang. I get 2225+- with stable OC and reduced power settings using nvOC.
THANK YOU VoskCoin! I just dumped 3.5K to do the ^GPU 1080 TI build, but only purchase 4 GPU for now, hoping to upgrade the system with 2 more GPUs in the future. Excited to finally do the damn thing! Been on the fence for awhile, but looks like i finally got the push, thanks again.

Vosk it's crazy. Watching your videos gave me the ambition to start mining. I didn't dig and create a new structure, but I did change my whole office and home network. I didn't dig and create a new structure, but I did change my whole office and home network. Lots of people thank me for getting them into mining, so thank you for your videos. I ROI'd recently smashing LTC blocks. Thanks for this video finally!. Thanks for this video finally! Let's get some coin brother!
hey man, awesome vids been watching them all week! I'd donate if I had $ to haha
I have been mining zcash with my 970 gaming pc for about 2 days and I'm having alot of fun even though I'm only running at 227 sol/s right now. I want to start making some money.
I want to build a dedicated rig and want to focus on mining BTC/alt coins and putting them into BTC (like everyone else it seems)
What would you recommend to start out? I'm an experienced PC builder but not clued up on mining rigs. I've seen trio builds, 12x 1060 builds and 6x 1080 builds. I don't know where to start. I'm leaning towards your bang for buck rig, maybe I just answered my own question... but I'm prepared to spend that extra $ for a more efficient rig which will ROI quicker. Thanks in advance and
Hi man, you are really cool and your videos are really educative regarding cryptos. I live in Mauritius and its not easy to trade or even buy bitcoins or other altcoins since we do not have a local platform to do this and all the videos looks scary to buy online. Mainly when they ask you to upload your ID and details. If this step can approve a payment, they can as well send the same photos of my ID to other purchases of their own. Too risky.
Is there a way we can communicate so as to get some advise ?
Thanking you in advance.
Hey, great channel and awesome content. Thank you for teaching us. I’d love to learn more about how you set up the 240v electric. I’m still paying the noob tax on 110v running 1 x 8 1060 3gb rig pulling 950w with 180mhs on claymore mining ETC. Planning a second and third build but waiting to get my hands on some AMD cards. I’ll switch the 1060 rig over to Zcash. My biggest concern is heat management in my basement. During the winter it’s a bonus space heater, but in the summer I’d like to vent the heat outside. Any tips on building an enclosure like your shed but inside?
Since Nicehash down I have had to dig deeper in order to get machines running again. You have just confirmed my coin choice vert & Mona. You are smart and your advice is great keep talking dude thanks.
Any vert or Mona pool selection strategies to share?
love the shed man. I'm hoping to upgrade soon to a few more rigs. finally got my cards all working and they aren't taking up my whole living room for testing anymore. Vosk you asked me to update ya when I had it up and running. So here is an update video if your interested. thanks for the inspiration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHOIi10iyLE&t=506s
risers are never going away
terrible idea to have a bunch of 16x slots on a longer pcb - they're closer together, limits your case design, and puts more stress on the pcb (flexing, weight)
I think you wasted your money in this case
Do you have any issues with humidity/moisture in ambient air? I was running my D3 in my shed in the UK and two of the hashboards built up corrosion on the heat sinks, which I assume is from humidity. The affected hasboards both stopped working. Brushed the corrosion of and sent them back to $hitmain, they have agreed to send me new ones under warranty. Should have sold it when you sold yours!
How to become bitcoin trader? Exactly like Bitcoin, multiple digital currencies exist in the marketplace. So if you prefer to buy a few other currencies which aren`t available on Indian Exchange than you can utilize Bittrex. All you have to do is locate an exchange that you favor. Cryptocurrency exchanges have a massive potential to modify peoples minds and opinions concerning cryptocurrencies generally speaking and their application in actual life. So even in the event the exchange is attacked, its still true that you have your money. Furthermore, the exchanges prepare each and every industry for Bitcoin expansion. Existing stock exchanges will also compete to be able to fulfill the users configuration requirements. Sooner or later later on, the prices will grow more equal, meeting somewhere in the middleyour profit is equivalent to the quantity of convergence. No matter how far it is from Kijun, it is likely to return and test that level at some point. The amount of bitcoin is perpetually changing. In the US, it is 1000 USD. Whats even better, seek the services of a seasoned lawyer or at least ask for an in depth consultation. So youve read the newspaper about the meteoric growth of crypto currencies including Bitcoin or Ripple. Then coming up with 1000s of exchange rates simply to go out and get groceries is nearly impossible. Many cities around the world provide a bitcoin ATM where you are able to trade cash for bitcoin. The cryptocurrency world isn`t efficient.
