0:11 “ The city does not have a revenue problem – it has a spending efficiency problem.” Welcome to the world of Democratic Socialism Amazon !!!

Yes, and blame it all on the Leftists pigs at the trough, and their free loading citizens.
John Grist (29 days ago)
Amazon is a far left anti trump company that promoted and backed the very people about to tax them. Now they want to cry?? Hypocrites. Pay that tax and like it Amazon. If u want to back libtards and then they tax you pay it and stop your crying. Karma is a butch.

This tax doesn't fix the homeless problem, it only enables it. Well said "Seattle is taking other's peoples money " because homeless doesn't want to work and get themselves out of homelessness, they just want free stuff

All governments are socialists now. Some are just more socialist than others. Extreme socialism will kill the goose that lays the golden eggs (employers) because they think the goose should lay more golden eggs. Now voters are so used to getting taken care of from the cradle to the grave that no politician can expect to win an election if he campaigns on a platform of letting people do more for themselves, which is what made America great in the first place. It may not feel like it to some, but we are spoiled.

f wealth craters leave , some else will take their place. Although, it is hard to compete against Goldman - sacs when working class tax payers and mom and pop businesses bailed them out with their tax money because the government put a gun to their head and took it. Stop giving tax breaks to corporations . Amazon gets discounted prices from the US post office, and that is a tax my friend. A tax on the poor. In addition, lets take a look at the Federal governments "secret budget" and see how much funding Amazon gets in the name of " national security". The Federal government is running an extortion racket. STOP SUPPORTING FORTUNE 500 COMPANIES WITH TAX PAYERS DOLLARS. There would not be homelessness if people were required to support big business with a portion of their income. Your paying to have a job.

The cure for homelessness and poverty is a job. Increasing the cost of labor is not going to make more jobs, if anything, it will make for less jobs. Why is this so hard to understand?
Robert Morris (1 month ago)
THE DEMOCRATS ARE dumb and do not understand business. They want to tax and over tax the people that are supplying the jobs.
Robert Morris (1 month ago)
If Amazon were smart they would pack up and leave the state.
Randy Doak (1 month ago)
Amazon is a pox on Seattle. Let them all move away as far as I'm concerned. We were doing just fine before they took the entire city over. All the cheap-ass high rise apartments they put in to house these boring tech drones will end up as affordable housing someday.

The Left always holds up vulnerable groups to push their socialist agenda. Go to Dem controlled cities, you see homelessness, needles & feces lying on the sidewalk. These are the same places with the highest cost of living in the country.

You Trumptards scream "Trump was elected and he is doing what he promised!". The Seattle city council was elected and they are doing what they promised. How does this elude you people? Are you so stupid that you fail to recognize Democracy when you disagree with the policies? Is this the same mental condition as your "Fake News" cries when you don't like the news? SEEK HELP, Seriously.
Sid Waterhouse (1 month ago)
I think this is ridiculous 90% of the people that you give money to go and buy drugs with it stop supporting their drug habits people I never give homeless people money I'll give them food but never money
Patti Morris (1 month ago)
Aaron Bower so true. Wait they will cut the hours of workers.
Aaron Bower (1 month ago)
Sid Waterhouse I don't agree with City Council on this matter, but appropriations aren't going directly to the homeless, that hardly is ever the case... The funds will just go into the general fund and go towards everything but homelessness.
Skythos (1 month ago)
If Seattle wants to push the issue, I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon replies with "Alright... we're leaving Seattle."

The Seattle homeless problem is due to the restrictions on housing make houses too expensive for most people. If the city council didn't restrict the housing people would have houses, if they didn't give so many freebies to people who don't work the people would move away looking for work.
Patrick Wang (27 days ago)
Also, the fact that this city is so generous to it's homeless population. Because we give so much to the homeless, we literally attract homeless from around the region lmfao
Aaron Bower (1 month ago)
Ernest Bywater that is a huge part of the problem, yeah...
Jacob Garcia (1 month ago)

Gabriel G (1 month ago)
hound4u93 (1 month ago)
More homeless people will move to Seattle for the " free services " and free housing. And the city cannot force homeless people to move into shelters anyway! Its a no brainer that businesses will NOT move to Seattle or expand. No doubt many more homeless people will move to Seattle and then taxes will increase to help the increase.
Franklin Sharp (1 month ago)
I'm not a fan of Amazon, but if they have half a brain they will pack up and move to a tax friendly State.
Joey Sabin (1 month ago)
Difficult to feel sorry for a business that is cruel to its employees and makes so much money it wouldn't even notice the tax. That said, I find government taxing the crap out of everything simple theft, and find them both in contempt, void of common sense, and dumber than a bucket of rocks.
andrademeza (27 days ago)
Cruel? Amazon? Amazon was one of the funnest jobs i had.
Aaron Bower (1 month ago)
Matthew Smith those other companies, like Boeing for example, are awesome places to work for...
Aaron Bower (1 month ago)
Problem is City Council is taxing the 600 biggest businesses in the city...so it's not just Amazon...it's Boeing, Starbucks, Northrup Grumman, etc...
Matthew Smith (1 month ago)
Joey Sabin I understand where you're coming from but that's not the point. Seattle will not stop with just Amazon and Starbucks. In a year to the go after the small businesses the mom and pops. and the fact that big businesses like Starbucks and Amazon they'll pack up and move no close down locations and they'll take him to a different state and they'll get better deal and they'll make even more money and those people and Seattle will lose thousands of jobs.

Business growing... Democrats let's increase taxes... Business are hurting low paying jobs... Let's increase min wage
Razor2048 (1 month ago)
Amazon deserves what it is getting now, they decided to continue building the HQ over there even though they imposed the tax on them. If they really disliked the tax, they would have canceled construction and moved to a different state.

Amazon should take that out of the paychecks of their workers. Put that shit under homeless tax. The employees let this happen, now they will feel it. It's like those kids in Florida want to take away gun rights get a clear backpack!
John Hall (1 month ago)
We should be so lucky that the rest of America's growth resembles Seattle's.
Aaron Bower (1 month ago)
Randy Doak here in PA 8 years ago, we had a massive housing shortage because of the Marcellus Shale natural gas activity...1000s of workers came into my small city of Williamsport, PA (where the Little League World Serise is played every year)...what happened here was codes redrew some zones and city council adjusted things to let builders and new investors more easily come in and build new apartment buildings and houses...the result was rent prices stabilized and have even fallen since the drilling activity has become less and less...is it a perfect solution?...no, but it's better than doubling down on more government.
Randy Doak (1 month ago)
Unfortunately, the market has no solution to homelessness other than to wish all the homeless people would go away.
Aaron Bower (1 month ago)
I would take the growth, no doubt...how this city council handles it though can be left on the west coast. There are times when regulations make sense and there are times when you need to let the market handle it...Seattle has prospered in spite of government, not because of it...soon though, companies might decide to leave.

It's interesting that big business don't actually want there businesses in red states.
Raymon Tutewohl (1 month ago)
Scoundrel 91 it'll be fine but Bezos might not like it. No doubt the company will survive. Capitalism is a decent system. My main concern is too much control on the state or federal level.
Scoundrel 91 (1 month ago)
Trickling of technology? Well that's new... anyway, I'm a believer in capitalism and I don't think capitalism is so fragile that a modest tax increase is going to harm an economy. Besides Washington is among the highest growing economies in the union. It's going to be fine.
Raymon Tutewohl (1 month ago)
Scoundrel 91 I never said anything about the trickling of money. I pointed out the trickling of technology. Jumping the gun a bit there.
Scoundrel 91 (1 month ago)
What you just described is trickle down economics which has been a huge failure. The money doesn't eventually go to workers. Wages have been stagnant since the late 70s while productivity grew. So your ideals have been debunked. Rising wages happen when people can bargain for higher wages or the government increases wages. Amazon is going nowhere and if they go its definitely not moving to a red state. Amazon needs Seattle not the other way around. And nobody is trying to tax businesses and an absurdly high rate just a modest increase to meet the demands of a growing city.
Raymon Tutewohl (1 month ago)
Scoundrel 91 I agree that taxes will eventually need to be raised as we find more things to spend it on (universal health care, nuclear fusion energy, etc etc technological advances good for mankind), however the real issue is that if taxes are rising too fast. It's like the frog in the boiling water, if you throw it in it'll hop out, if you set it in and slowly raise the temp, it'll stay in. Bezos is the frog we want to stay in the pot as long as possible, and we don't want him to think it's too hot and he jumps out, taking his money with him. There are also benefits of letting the rich get rich, and that is that they eventually have to spend their money. A place like Costco is a excellent business with it's 2% profit margins and happy employees (and owners), however Costco isn't funding a space program like Bezos is. The ultra rich want technological improvements to make their lives easier, and they spend the money to get it. Once they get it, after a period of time, the rest of us will. Like with computers back in the old days only the rich could afford them, but now we all have computers in our pockets more powerful than what sent men to the moon with.

Jacob Garcia Then what stopping new house to be built since it is so profitable. Fact The Libtard city council is the one that cause the homeless problem with their 7000 pages building regulation. You basically need ton of money to build a house and these money got to come from somewhere. Either that or don't build anything.
Jacob Garcia (1 month ago)
Foreign real estate investors are the ones causing the homeless problem. You can raise wages to $20 and the gooks will just raise the rent.

How to become bitcoin trader? Exactly like Bitcoin, multiple digital currencies exist in the marketplace. So if you prefer to buy a few other currencies which aren`t available on Indian Exchange than you can utilize Bittrex. All you have to do is locate an exchange that you favor. Cryptocurrency exchanges have a massive potential to modify peoples minds and opinions concerning cryptocurrencies generally speaking and their application in actual life. So even in the event the exchange is attacked, its still true that you have your money. Furthermore, the exchanges prepare each and every industry for Bitcoin expansion. Existing stock exchanges will also compete to be able to fulfill the users configuration requirements. Sooner or later later on, the prices will grow more equal, meeting somewhere in the middleyour profit is equivalent to the quantity of convergence. No matter how far it is from Kijun, it is likely to return and test that level at some point. The amount of bitcoin is perpetually changing. In the US, it is 1000 USD. Whats even better, seek the services of a seasoned lawyer or at least ask for an in depth consultation. So youve read the newspaper about the meteoric growth of crypto currencies including Bitcoin or Ripple. Then coming up with 1000s of exchange rates simply to go out and get groceries is nearly impossible. Many cities around the world provide a bitcoin ATM where you are able to trade cash for bitcoin. The cryptocurrency world isn`t efficient.
