Are you looking to buy your first altcoin cryptocurrency, outside of Bitcoin, Ethereum or Litecoin? Here's how to do it in this step by step guide! This guide is specifically for people who are fairly new to the cryptocurrency world.
Join me over the shoulder as I walk through purchasing Bitcoin or Ethereum on Coinbase, then transfer that money to Bittrex, to then trade for an altcoin (in this case NEO).
Let's get started!
Buy Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin on CoinBase and get $10 worth free (if it's your first time as a customer):

Hello Friends, I have invested in this crypto currency, called PROC, they are giving it at concessional rates now through marketing. So attaching a link if you want to join please feel free to ask anything.
I am a newbie for sure! This helped quite a bit. I am still unsure about all of this crypto business! I haven't bought any crypto yet. Now I understand what a mainline type crypto is like bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum, etc.. Altcoins are anything outside of those. One question does Bittrex allow you to buy most all altcoin or do I have to get into other exchanges to cover a greater part of the altcoin field?
Best way in Canada is sign up on https://www.quadrigacx.com/?ref=cxjr21zkozufbzt531rxak2g You can use interact and transfer form Canadiana bank.. Company is based out of Vancouver. Then you can buy all the best ALT coins at https://www.binance.com/?ref=11936180 Trust me best and safest Exchanges!!!!
It took me a long time to open my account at Binance. They stopped new registration for quite a while. But instead of announcing that, they just reject the password I created by either saying the password did not match, or "Password must be at least 8 characters with uppercase letters" although my password met the requirement. After trying for many days I finally
got my account opened.
I don't get the difference between the "bid" ETH and the "total" ETH. It goes from .09xxxx to .29xxxx. Where did the .2 ETH go?
Edit: Is the .29xxxx the amount you already had, and you're only trading .09xxxx worth???
Crypto Bobby I'm looking forward to buy KIN coin, but couldn't find it in any markets in bittrex.com. What are the other websites that I could trade in for lesaer known altcoins? If there is a video of yours explaining it, that would be great.
ahhhhhhmazing. thank you. been looking for a way to buy altcoins.
I'm slightly new to all of this. I knew i should have researched this a year ago... and feel late to the party.. but they said that a year ago.. So i'm hoping this pays off in the long run.. because i'm in it for the long haul. It's never too late... or better late than never i guess.
I want to diversify and am extremely interested in investing into a few... ripple for sure.. dragon chain... monero, dodgecoin, pods... who knows
I'm also looking into bit mining. WHich people say is pointless... but i don't pay for electric and it's free money for letting a program run... so hey i'm interested
trying to dive into blackness here, ..old dog needs to learn new tricks,..this helped decipher a lot of questions .. ..it seems im going to have to start with bit coin /lite/eth and learn from there..thanks
Can you believe that I have literally been trying for the past week to get in some where to buy any kind of bitcoins altcoind and I keep getting the same response..They are all saying they are overloaded with new users and are not taking new users..where and how can I buy altcoins??? Please help.Coinbase is NOT verifying id's ...It keeps saying identification Failed...I mean why is this happening? Do you know?
Just tried sending BTC via coinbase to Bittrex. Got verified & everything with Bittrex and thought I'd test it out by sending a couple hundred $ of BTC and it's going to charge me over $20 in fees to send???!!! Are the fees really this high sending to Bittrex or Binance to buy altcoins?
Coinage (or others). Yes I trade on GDAX(mostly limit orders). Hate Fees! I thought had to send coins back to Coinbase to send out(I'm not very sharp). But looking closer, I think i can withdraw BTC from GDAX to Bittrex (or Binance ) for free? On the withdraw link on GDAX it says "Enter a BTC address and the amount you wish to transfer from your GDAX trading account. BTC transfers are free and fast.". Is this right? $20+ to xfer from CoinBase and Free from GDAX?
On Aug 22 2017 you suggested that we use GDAX instead of Coinbase to eliminate fee. Why you advise us now to purchase our first coins with Coinbase? Youtube link to your video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRvN-01B2E0
I'm new to this cryptocurrency world so I would like to know how I can secure my Altcoins after I buy it/them. Is it supossed to just stay on Coinbase/Bittrex or do I move them to other safer wallets, Is it safe to keep it in Coinbase/Bittrex for many years if its a long term investment, or what do I do? I would appreciate any answers.
Appreciate it, man. Although I still have questions. I thought a person only has one wallet though? Meaning, I have a Coinbase account which contains BTC, ETH, LTC. So once I buy Altcoins on Bittrex these altcoins are now in another place (on Bittrex)? Also, is there a specific reason you used ETH opposed to BTC? Does this just have to do with how they are doing at the moment?
Bittrex, Coinbase, or another centralized exchange are a bad option for altcoin purchases. They are slow, insecure (google bittrex passport leak), freeze accounts, take ages to answer to support queries, and a lot more. Changelly, decentralized exchanges, p2p marketplaces all allow faster and simpler transactions. This simple guide on how to buy altcoins mentions the most convenient options: http://coinvigilance.com/how-to-buy-altcoins-the-simplest-guide-online/
As a newbie I will tell you the number one frustration that NOBODY mentioned: I just bought some litecoin on coinbase expecting to be able to move it to an exchange and swap into cheaper cryptos. Guess what? It will take one full week until my litecoin is available to trade!!!!! DO YOU THINK SOMEONE COULD HAVE MENTIONED HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE UNTIL I CAN DO SOMETHING??????????This is ridiculous! Can't I buy with a credit card and use it right away? A week is an eternity in the crypto world. This is such crap!!!!
No credit card fee. But, I have like a $400 weekly limit without better ID verification. But, yes the ACH system is the reason for the delay. There's one great reason to conduct banking using crypto. Fast.
I finally did this today. took about 2 1/2 days to make sure i knew what i was doing, heard many stories of money disappearing lol. They are online wallets, but not safe to keep in long term. I am researching right now about cold storage. If you are going to do a lot of trading i would say thats fine but not if you are holding.
Hope this helps!
Great job man.. I did have one question that I'm trying to research the answer to.. Aside from Bitcoin / Ether.. if say you were going to buy ADA/Cardano, Monero etc.. do you have to have seperate wallets for all of them? or is there a way to have a secure wallet to house all of them?
Thanks! So after you buy altcoins on Bittrex, you move them into another wallet like Exodus, FReewallet, etc.? How do you do that, is it easy to put them in the wallet? ...Also, so you leave the coins you bought in Coinbase? Or are you planning on putting those in the Exodus wallet too? I'm new and confused. lol. If you don't know, don't worry about it.
I started using exodus for my alt coins; what I did was buy the bitcoin/ether on coinbase; then transfer what ever ammount of bitcoin I want to use to buy altcoins to Bittrexx or Coinigy* from there you can use the bitcoin to buy what ever alt coins are on that specific exchange.
How to become bitcoin trader? Exactly like Bitcoin, multiple digital currencies exist in the marketplace. So if you prefer to buy a few other currencies which aren`t available on Indian Exchange than you can utilize Bittrex. All you have to do is locate an exchange that you favor. Cryptocurrency exchanges have a massive potential to modify peoples minds and opinions concerning cryptocurrencies generally speaking and their application in actual life. So even in the event the exchange is attacked, its still true that you have your money. Furthermore, the exchanges prepare each and every industry for Bitcoin expansion. Existing stock exchanges will also compete to be able to fulfill the users configuration requirements. Sooner or later later on, the prices will grow more equal, meeting somewhere in the middleyour profit is equivalent to the quantity of convergence. No matter how far it is from Kijun, it is likely to return and test that level at some point. The amount of bitcoin is perpetually changing. In the US, it is 1000 USD. Whats even better, seek the services of a seasoned lawyer or at least ask for an in depth consultation. So youve read the newspaper about the meteoric growth of crypto currencies including Bitcoin or Ripple. Then coming up with 1000s of exchange rates simply to go out and get groceries is nearly impossible. Many cities around the world provide a bitcoin ATM where you are able to trade cash for bitcoin. The cryptocurrency world isn`t efficient.
