ASIC Miners will KILL GPU Mining - VoskCoin April 2018 Mining Farm Update

2260 ratings | 24243 views
ASIC miners and the monopoly that is Bitmain will kill GPU mining at this current rate. Ethereum dev's do not plan to fork because of the Bitmain Antminer E3 Eth ASIC Miner and Zooko has expressed little interest in being prepared for forking equihash if there is a public asic miner released. At this current rate all reputable projects that boast decentralized mining should be planning regulay algorithm changes. I’d be surprised if they didn’t have a better asic waiting in the wings, it doesn’t seem like the devs are taking it seriously, seems like bitmain got smart and sneaky trying to fly under the radar

clinton carr there is a correlation between the amount of hash power and the amount of capital spent on the gear within a coin's ecosystem vs the price of said coin. It's not 100% directly related or calculable yet, but it has to do with trading volume, interest, use and difficulty/scarcity that occurs thru mining and more importantly, mining growth. JMHO.
clinton carr (2 months ago)
Sadly pirl has abandoned Asic resistant also. I will vote with my hashing power and also my trading power. Death to centralization!

nice vid a bit of a downer on mining though seeing I JUST got my first rig done and setup and going. Grrrrr. But when one coin fails lets find others that can still be mined.

I completely agree with you: "all reputable projects that boast decentralized crypto-currency [mining] should be planning regular algorithm changes". I think BitMain has already developed and is using ASICs with chips that can be flashed with the newest algorithms. On XMR.NanoPool .org the top miner has a hash rate of 4,527,810 H/s- that works out to 6,758 RX580's (based on the hash rates I'm getting). Really? I absolutely could be wrong, unless a pool can join another pool, but how could a person or company have that kind of rate without ASICs?

ASIC's drive up mining difficulty, profitable initially but then profitability drops as the difficulty rises. Eventually the coin will become centralized even for ASIC's as you'll need a datacentre full of them to compete with each other.

Being new, and looking at my 1st rig, should I consider not getting into GPU mining?
PatronUA (1 month ago)
Hey man, I really hope u can reply.... I'm about to dip my toes into gpu mining and started to save up for my first rig. I plan to spend 1000 bucks or so . I just set up my 2 old laptops to cpu mine monero. I don't know as much as I need too, but I'm learning every day. My goal is to reach about 10-15 bucks per day. I don't want to waste money. Or should I just save up for asic miner instead?
Elishia Ratel (1 month ago)
I hope they fork GPUs
Rocky LeBlanc (1 month ago)
Aren't one of the reasons that they want asic for mining is because they are more efficient miners. Not to mention they are using dedicated hardware that doesn't kill the markets for so many other computing segments like memory and graphics cards. Even the manufacturers of the video cards are trying to stop miners from using their products by creating dedicated bundles to make sure the have a package that is not profitable for mining.

The original creators of cryto currency never intended for a monopoly, and ASIC has been totally monopolized and dominated by a few.... This is a FACT, and the numbers show it very clearly! This goes against EVERYTHING that was originally intended for cryoto currency adaption in the very first place, it's basically now a total sham... you might as well buy and hold GOLD AND SILVER and also mine crypto coins like Monero7 (the fork) and other REAL CRYPTO COINS that have the REAL SPIRIT of the crypto community at heart.... rather than supporting some greedy pigs who sold out their ethics. We need to put a face to all these FAKERS out there pushing this unethical scheme, central banks, central crypto, all the fucking same in the end and it makes me sick... Satoshi Nakamoto would have been sick to see this too. Greedy fucks.

It was an amazing experience that I was fortunate and happy to survive.

i'm really upset about Ether not forking but i think the reason is because of Serenity upcoming and the difficulty bomb. they're putting all of their work into making ether more scalable and think that scaling issues are more important than ASICs taking over. However i doubt the difficulty on ether will rise much because bitmain has definitely been mining with their ASICs on ether for months and a few thousand more ASICs joining the network won't raise the difficulty to make GPU rigs not profitable. Until of course the next ether ASIC comes out that is way more powerful than a rig. still, ether will go POS and everything will be obsolete. for now let's go MONERO!

When i started trading about 9 months ago i lost my money due to lack of good strategy, and signals generated by so called experts some of which i had to pay for. I was made to understand that most posts here are scam but then a fellow youtube knowledge seeker told me about his experience with Peter Thommen and also directed me on how to contact him. i earn over $8800 weekly.

Nvidia (NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) just got new competition in the crypto chip mining market and that has Wall Street investment firm Morgan Stanley worried. While Nvidia and AMD have been the go-to graphics chip makers for people looking to mine digital tokens or play video games, a high performing semiconductor made by Bitmain Technologies could take a piece of that business. Dubbed the Antminer E3 chip, its performance and price are giving Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore pause. The chip made by Chinese based Bitmain Technologies is slated to start shipping in July, at a price of around $800. (See more: NVIDIA's Crypto-Mining Bonanza Is Ending: RBC.) "While this was largely anticipated, the capability is slightly higher than our expectations, with hash rate 7.5x graphics cards at $800 price, and about 5.7x the power consumption," wrote the analyst in a research report covered by Barron’s. “The superior economics is likely to drive down mining profits for graphics chips (which were already under pressure), and likely signal the end of the crypto graphics shortage by mid-year.” The analyst noted that AMD will likely be hurt more by this than Nvidia although both could see demand from miners decline.   The analyst, who has an overweight rating both on Nvidia and AMD, said the companies have other high-growth areas of the chip market to focus on. One of those is artificial intelligence where Nvidia has been able to race ahead of many of its peers. Rosenblatt Securities analyst Hans Mosesmann said this week that Nvidia's technological advances in that area are giving it a lock on AI. (See more: Nvidia to Have Lock on AI Market: Rosenblatt.) But Moore isn’t the only Wall Street analyst to express concern about Bitmain's mining chip. RBC Capital analyst Mitch Steves warned in a note to clients covered by Barron’s that the Antminer could lure Nvidia GPU chip buyers. He pointed out that the main buyers of Nvidia's graphics chips have for some time been people who are using them to mine cryptocurrency. The launch of the Antminer E3 comes at a time when the price of the leading cryptocurrencies has fallen from their meteoric rise in 2017. Still even with prices off their December highs, demand for graphics cards to mine for cryptocurrency has increased, resulting in chip shortages. That has prompted an uptick in both AMD and Nvidia stock. So far this year Nvidia is up more than 13%. AMD hasn’t fared so well, down more than 10% since the beginning of 2018.   Read more: Nvidia Crypto Rival Has Morgan Stanley Worried | Investopedia https://www.investopedia.com/news/nvidia-crypto-rival-has-morgan-stanley-worried/#ixzz5C7t9oMY3 Follow us: Investopedia on Facebook

I'm not seeing AMD and Nvidia just leaving this alone. They made a killing off of GPU mining. If GPU mining dies and they feel that dip I think they're very likely to purpose build GPUs for mining, not trimmed down versions, real cards designed for it.

Well vosk the mining hype is just the first significant wave of crypto, which is basically the far west / oil rush era of the internet. Dont be surprised if a big company takes advantage of the main flaw of miners: GPUs. It's freaking time another big company makes them bite the dust by making more effective, more powerful asics. Asics are just the second wave of mining and you guys must get it: GPU is fine but so ineffective compared to a machine litterally built to do exactly the job you ask a gpu. It's like comparing a bunch of guys transporting oil in buckets then there's this company that decides to build a train. I bet you the next step is to build a pipeline. What will kill the asics? Dont know yet :P

Mining is going to move to ASICs on all of the mineable algos, even XMR will probably switch to a algo that is non symmetric, so it'll support higher levels of security.
Crypto 4Techs (2 months ago)
I disagree with the statement many are making about GPU miners switching coins potentially leaving ETH, or another coin's network in crisis due to lack of mining power. I believe this is a false worry and is FUD to help falsely justify ASICs. Let's say for example 90% of GPU miners decided to abandon ETH (as an example coin). What would happen??? Well, the 10% of the miners left over would be making huge profits with so few miners competing now.... That would make miners gravitate back to mine ETH because of the profit. I think the versatility of GPUs helps spread miners across coins and no one coin would lose too many miners because mining would balance itself based on coin profit and potential. Bitmain being a Chinese based company, let's just talk about China in general for a minute... My understanding is that China has been buying up interests and debt all over for a very long time now. I am concerned about how much power and control China has in crypto and in other important industries / markets in multiple countries.

"No that much needed tweak will brick my asics so we're not doing that". very disappointing to hear about zcash. btcp and zen the only good dev teams left on equihash. an easy solution would be to leave asic coins on asic if the devs dont mind worshipping at the bitmain altar and leave gpu coins for gpu but nope, bitmains gotta have everything Monero Rvn ME LUV U LOONG TIIME!!!

How to become bitcoin trader? Exactly like Bitcoin, multiple digital currencies exist in the marketplace. So if you prefer to buy a few other currencies which aren`t available on Indian Exchange than you can utilize Bittrex. All you have to do is locate an exchange that you favor. Cryptocurrency exchanges have a massive potential to modify peoples minds and opinions concerning cryptocurrencies generally speaking and their application in actual life. So even in the event the exchange is attacked, its still true that you have your money. Furthermore, the exchanges prepare each and every industry for Bitcoin expansion. Existing stock exchanges will also compete to be able to fulfill the users configuration requirements. Sooner or later later on, the prices will grow more equal, meeting somewhere in the middleyour profit is equivalent to the quantity of convergence. No matter how far it is from Kijun, it is likely to return and test that level at some point. The amount of bitcoin is perpetually changing. In the US, it is 1000 USD. Whats even better, seek the services of a seasoned lawyer or at least ask for an in depth consultation. So youve read the newspaper about the meteoric growth of crypto currencies including Bitcoin or Ripple. Then coming up with 1000s of exchange rates simply to go out and get groceries is nearly impossible. Many cities around the world provide a bitcoin ATM where you are able to trade cash for bitcoin. The cryptocurrency world isn`t efficient.
