Architectural visualisation of my MArch RIBA II Year1 project.
A short visualisation animation clip showing the site and exterior aspects of my proposal for the 2nd term project.
The building collides with the rugged landscape, sinking in the earth.
No clear threshold between natural and artificial exists.
It tries to tame the rock ... Natural becomes man made and man made becomes natural.
The small island site becomes a retreat for the soul, a way to experience the amazing healing powers of sea water and climate, and also a fun destination for the visitors in the summer, who can reach it by boat or by swim. It is in that capacity that it becomes a place of relaxation and contemplation, very much in the tradition of the Renaissance gardens, but also a challenge to live simpler,
constantly posing the duality between the natural and the artificial. Playing on the theme of journey, and the perverse analogy between people sailing there and the political prisoners sailing
to enforced exile on the nearby Makronissos,it tries to become a recreational heterotopia that helps the visitor experience the beauty of the surrounding landscape and of course water.
People challenge themselves by swimming to the small island of "Archi" and back. The programme tries to reinforce these experiences by challenging the guest to live a simpler way of life both over a short or a longer period, away from everything unnatural.
